Energy policy for India : an interdisciplinary analysis

Publication Year: 1980

Author(s): Rajendra K Pachauri

Abstract:

The material presented in this volume represents the thinking of persons who have done considerable research in the various aspects of energy policy in India. It is now over six years since the sudden increase in international oil prices caused a severe reaction all over the world, and as a result led to changes in planning and priorities. The main impact of this first realisation of a global energy crisis was an attempt by Indian planners and administrators to take action in trying to reduce consumption of petroleum and thereby bring down the import bill for this very vital commodity.
