Abstract:

In 2010, anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions reached the equivalent of 49 billion tonnes of CO2.  Their highest level in history. They grew on average 2.2% per year between 2000 and 2010. The production and consumption of fossil fuel are responsible for 69% of emissions, whilst agriculture, deforestation and other land use changes account for 24% of emissions.
